General characteristics of the professional profile of a graduate of the study programme German Language and Culture in Professional Communication:
1. Knowledge:
The graduate of the study programme German Language and Culture in Professional Communication has general knowledge at the level of synthesis. He/she has acquired knowledge of the German language and its laws, the way and conditions of its functioning in all linguistic levels and its relations to other languages, especially to the Slovak language, in a relational-argumentative way. The student is familiar with all linguistic levels of the German language system, the supporting data, concepts, principles and theoretical and methodological principles of linguistic and cultural-scientific disciplines. The student is equipped with basic knowledge of the theory of translation and interpreting in the context of a professional language.
2. Skills:
Proficiency in German at a high practical level. Specifies and can put into context knowledge of the cultural history of German-speaking countries. He/she has acquired translation and interpreting techniques and strategies and is able to use them practically in the mediation of everyday communication. Knows the basic procedures, analysis and interpretation of works of art. Is able to apply linguistic and cultural-scientific knowledge in a variety of cultural-artistic and pragmatic-communicative activities. Can critically analyse written and spoken discourse, formulate own opinions and attitudes, critically revise and constructively defend them.
3. Professional competences:
Possesses translation and interpretation skills applicable in a variety of professional contexts and economic sectors. He/she is also characterised by creative and flexible thinking and is able to engage in work in the artistic and creative industries. He/she is able to present his/her own opinions and other general and professional content in German in a professional manner.
4. Transferable competences:
Is able to develop his/her own linguistic culture in the German language and to continue to learn and organise his/her own learning in the German language. Is able to work with information and find the historical-cultural, professional, value-moral, social, legal and economic contexts of the German language area. He/she can identify and solve problems and keep in touch with current developments in the discipline under study and effectively pursue his/her own professional development.
