Posted on: 30.9. 2024

The University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava in cooperation with the Slovak National Centre for Human Rights cordially invites you to a lecture entitled "Work-life balance (in academic environment)", which will take place on 8 October 2024 at 1 p.m. at the UCM Library.

The topic of the lecture will be work-life balance in an academic environment. We will focus on the historical context of gender equality and how this development has influenced current discussions on work-life balance. In addition, specific work-life balance tools and their potential for the academic environment will be discussed. Topics will include flexible working hours, teleworking options and parental leave support for academic staff.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss how universities can contribute to promoting gender equality and improving the quality of life of their workforce. The lecture will also provide practical information on equal treatment in the workplace, diversity and inclusion, including support measures such as childcare and dependent care services. The division of family responsibilities and the involvement of fathers in childcare will also be an important part of the discussion.

Attention will also be paid to legal aspects such as employment relations, including the reassignment of female employees during pregnancy or maternity, the distribution of working time, wage conditions without discrimination and the right to equal pay for equal work.
