RESEARCH TEAM FOR MINORITY STUDIES AND CULTURE HERITAGE

Research Characterization: 

The research focuses on documenting, analyzing, comparing, and revitalizing minority groups in the European space.

 

The team has been working on two partial themes:

  1. Huncokári in Slovakia - rescue research of the disappearing ethnographic group of German origin. Comparison of research with abroad, using the latest methods and findings of ethnolinguistics. By utilizing selected ethnographic, linguistic, historical, cartographic methodological approaches, we comprehensively document and analyze selected areas of life, language, settlement, education, and the formation of identity of the studied groups; 
  2. Slovaks Abroad - research on the culture and identity of Slovak minorities abroad today. The aim of the research is to identify current identification, culture-forming, and revitalization processes in the environment of Slovaks living abroad, with an emphasis on Slovaks in Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Croatia.
