Interpreting Laboratory
The digital interpreting laboratory Contest is installed in the premises of the main building of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius, at J. Herdu Square 2, Trnava. The laboratory is situated on the ground floor of the building in a room marked S0.5. The laboratory features six interpreting booths, each with a capacity for two people, making the total capacity of the laboratory twelve individuals. The laboratory consists of a digital central control and power unit, digital interpreting consoles located in the interpreting booths, a virtual lecturer control workstation, and accessories (headphones, microphones, software). The system includes an integrated communication module for mass and targeted communication with students-interpreters. The system also features a professional recording system for 6-channel digital audio recording.
The interpreting equipment is from Contest Bratislava, installed in the year 2018.
The interpreting laboratory represents a comprehensive digital equipment of an interpreting/language classroom designed for teaching foreign languages, primarily for teaching simultaneous, or possibly consecutive, interpreting techniques, specifically used within interpreting seminars and seminars on phonetics and phonology. The laboratory is primarily utilized by language departments: the Department of English and American Studies, the Department of German Studies, the Department of Russian Studies, and the Department of Slovak Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts at UCM in Trnava.
