Associate Professor Lukáš Gajarský and Dr Andrea Spišiaková participated in the International Staff Week at the Ivane Javakhishvili State University in Tbilisi. It is a leading research institution in the country.
The school is the first national university in Georgia and a pioneer of formal education in the South Caucasus region. This year, from 7 to 11 October, it hosted the 8th International Staff Week, which was attended by representatives from as many as 13 countries.
The main goal of the working trip was to strengthen international cooperation and establish contacts with various educational institutions from all over the world. The programme included lectures and workshops focused on internationalisation, university presentations and case studies of individual faculties. Participants had the opportunity to present their departments, thus creating space for valuable international contacts to be made.
"One of the main points of the programme was a working meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Darejan Tvaltvadze, where we discussed the possibility of concluding a memorandum on future cooperation between our institutions, the possibility of submitting joint projects and publishing in peer-reviewed WoS/Scopus journals with co-authorship," says Dr Spišiaková.
During the mobility, the colleagues also established informal contacts with Karadeniz Technical University in Turkey, which offers an undergraduate programme focused on the Russian language. This university has expressed interest in signing a bilateral cooperation agreement, which could create a promising partnership for the Department of Russian Studies at the UCM Faculty of Arts.
