Rector's speech on Teachers' Day
Published: 28.3. 2025
Dear colleagues, dear colleagues, dear teaching and academic community,
It is with great respect and gratitude that I address you today on the occasion of Teachers' Day. This day is a fitting opportunity to remember the extraordinary mission that you fulfill as teachers. To be an educator is not only to impart knowledge, but above all to shape future generations, to inspire them to knowledge and to lead them to the values that underpin an educated society.
The teaching profession is extremely responsible. It requires not only professional preparedness, but also a high degree of ethics and professionalism. It is important that we approach it responsibly and consistently - only in this way will we preserve the quality of our education. At a time when information spreads at the speed of light and its credibility is often questionable, it is our task to communicate only scientifically verified knowledge and not to allow the spread of conspiracies or misinformation.
The world is constantly changing and so are the ways in which we learn and teach others. It is therefore important to seek new approaches, innovations and methods that reflect the needs of the current generation of male and female students. This is the only way we can keep up with the times while ensuring that education remains relevant, stimulating and motivating.
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your work, for the energy you put into teaching, for the patience with which you accompany your students on their journey of discovery. Your efforts are irreplaceable and your work deserves great respect.
In the future, I wish you much creative strength, inspiration and joy in your profession. May you succeed not only in your teaching but also in your personal life. May you find joy in your profession and may your students bring you reasons for pride and satisfaction.
Thank you and have a wonderful Teachers' Day!
