1. Knowledge:
A graduate of the study program English language and culture in professional communication acquires versatile knowledge of the English language at an advanced level.
2. Skills:
Based on extensive knowledge of the history, culture and realities of Anglophone countries, the graduate of this study program is able to predict the dispositional behavior of the bearers of foreign and domestic culture and guide them in interaction. Knows and uses specific strategies and techniques of translation and interpretation at the level of ordinary and professional communication. He acquires habits for teamwork and individual work, uses modern technologies for work in a normal and professional environment.
3. Professional competences:
Graduates of the study program English language and culture in professional communication master the conceptual apparatus of linguistics, literary science and professional language (e.g. language communication in science and technology, professional communication in healthcare, professional communication in tourism, etc.). He has basic knowledge of translation and interpreting strategies and acquired knowledge of the issue of intercultural communication behavior. A graduate of this study program can organize business negotiations, professional conferences, symposia, seminars using several working languages.
4. Transferable competences:
A graduate of the second degree of the study program English language and culture in professional communication can manage a team and be part of team cooperation, e.g. in interpreting activities, he can anticipate and model potential communication situations between representatives of different cultures and societies in order to overcome communication obstacles and prevent conflict situations. He is able to think creatively and critically, formulate opinions, argue convincingly. He can process documents for the management of organizations of any organizational and legal form, prepare and create information material, create professional texts in various scientific fields. It uses modern technologies for work in a normal and professional environment.
A graduate of the second degree of the study program English language and culture in professional communication will apply on the labor market:
- in contact with foreign clientele in the framework of the development of cultural and economic relations with foreign countries;
- applies as a translator and interpreter in translation and interpreting activities - able to perform professional translation, interpretation using consecutive and simultaneous techniques, assist in intercultural communication in various spheres of communication, facilitate intercultural communication;
- can be used in cultural and educational institutions, foreign or international companies in the field of customer service, or customer service, advertising and public relations.

When registering the application electronically:
- the applicant is obliged to save the application uploaded in AIS (electronic application) (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient,
- we recommend using the electronic student book. Applicants who will graduate in the academic year 2024, submit a list of grades for the 1st to 3rd year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 4th year (5-year study). The report card from the last year and the matriculation certificate must be delivered additionally by post to the study department.
- in case the applicant does not have the possibility to use the electronic student book, it is necessary to send certified copies of the documents by post to the study department,
in the attachment of the electronic application, the applicant uploads a CV and confirmation of payment of the fee for the admission procedure. - the applicant, who graduated before 2024, will deliver to the Study Department (in person or by post) certified copies of the report cards for the 1st to 4th year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 5th year (5-year study) together with the school leaving certificate.
When applying in writing:
- the application along with all mandatory attachments must be sent by mail to the address: Study Department FF UCM, Nám. J. Herdu 2, 917 01 Trnava, or hand it in at the post office,
- applicants who graduate in the academic year 2024 send the report card from the last year of study and the matriculation certificate additionally by mail.

The applicant is obliged to submit a decision on the recognition of a document on education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic no later than the day of registration.

Information for international applicants to download
For the study of all study programs - including the study of foreign languages - knowledge of the Slovak language is required. Foreign students who do not have a high school diploma in the Slovak language or a university diploma from a Slovak university must take a language exam.
This condition does not apply to students with Czech citizenship.
It is necessary to register for the language exam in the online form no later than August 20, 2024.
Владение словацким языком требуется для всех учебных программ – включая иностранные языки. Для иностранных студентов, которые не подтверждают свой аттестат зрелости по словацкому языку или университетский диплом словацкого университета, сдача экзамена по словацкому языку является обязательной.
Это условие не распространяется на студентов с чешским гражданством.
