General characteristics of the professional profile of a graduate of the study programme Ethnology and Non-European Studies
1. Knowledge :
A graduate of the PhD in Ethnology will enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in previous degrees. At the same time, he/she will acquire a deeper knowledge of the field and the topic in which he/she specialises at this stage of his/her studies, being able to put these in context both in time and space.
2. Skills :
Last but not least, he/she will gain more practice in writing professional and popularization texts, but above all, he/she will learn to write and work at a scientific level. The graduate will build on the fieldwork and knowledge acquired to deepen his/her ability to understand the world around him/her, to think critically and to interpret cultural expressions. They will also be able to communicate more effectively with people and work in an international and culturally mixed team.
3. Professional competences:
The graduate has the possibility to work in academia and education, but also in museum institutions and non-profit organisations (e.g. focusing on work with migrants). As he/she will have knowledge of the cultural diversity of the world, linguistic competence and the ability to work with people, he/she will also be able to work in the private sector, e.g. in the tourism industry.
4. Transferable competences:
He/she will also broaden and deepen language skills not only in his/her mother tongue but also in English and be able to present the results of his/her work. They will be able to organise work individually and in teams and write projects. He/she will be able to manage and lead research projects of different structures and schemes.
