To become practically proficient in selected research methods and to use them in the search for new approaches, in the analysis of relevant details and important interdisciplinary connections.

Our doctoral program in systematic philosophy is designed to best prepare students to perform the activities defined above. For this reason, we place an increased emphasis on the development of analytical and critical thinking skills and on the development of students' active reading comprehension and writing skills. The main focus is on the development of PhD students' scientific and expert skills, their publishing activities, foreign activities (internships, scholarships, participation in conferences) and overall academic growth. Philosophy (systematic philosophy) is largely understood as a theoretical discipline, but it also has an irreplaceable practical, applied dimension. In their dissertations, the doctoral students of our department deal with highly specialized theoretical problems of contemporary systematic philosophy, as well as with topics that have their practical, applied dimension - of course, they do not lose sight of scientific rigor here either - and correspond to the current problems of modern society.
Conditions of admission for DAY and EXTERNAL form of study.
The admission procedure for doctoral studies is carried out according to § 5 Conditions of admission of applicants to studies within the Internal Directive 2/2014 Organisation of Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Arts UCM in Trnava and according to the conditions laid down in § 54 of Act No.131/2002 Coll., the Faculty informs all applicants about the conditions of admission to studies within the legally stipulated time limit by publishing an announcement about the admission procedure on the website of the Faculty of Arts UCM in the category of doctoral studies. The publication of the admission procedure is differentiated according to individual study programmes. The basic conditions for admission of applicants to doctoral studies at the UCM Faculty of Arts include:

c) successful completion of the entrance examination.
Graduates of domestic or foreign universities may apply after completing a master's degree in a given or related field. In the selection procedure, preference will be given to graduates who have been involved in student research activities during their previous studies. The admission procedure in the study programme of systematic philosophy is a selection procedure, which takes place in the form of an interview, where the applicant presents his/her motives, prerequisites for studies, dissertation project, as well as knowledge of a foreign language. At the entrance examination, the candidate will bring a detailed dissertation project, a list of literature studied in the field, and an overview of his/her own publishing activities. The admissions committee has at least five members. The chairperson and members of the admissions committee are appointed by the dean on the proposal of the departmental committee. In the case of admission of a candidate to a subject offered by an external educational institution, a representative of that institution shall also be a member of the admissions committee. A quorum shall be present if all members of the committee are present in a majority; in the event of a tie, the chairman of the committee shall have a casting vote. The admission board shall evaluate the result of the admission examination in closed session.
The purpose of the admission examination is to determine the applicant's aptitude for independent creative activity in the field of science and technology in the study programme in systematic philosophy and to ascertain the applicant's level of expertise. In the admission examination, the committee assesses the level of elaboration of the dissertation project, the applicant's ability to answer the committee's questions, the applicant's aptitude for scientific activity and the applicant's level of linguistic ability. The applicant becomes a PhD student after successful completion of the selection procedure and after enrolment in the PhD programme on the basis of the admission decree of the Dean of the Faculty.

Applicants are informed of the results of the admission procedure for doctoral study programmes in writing or electronically. The Dean of the UCM Faculty of Arts decides on the applicant's admission to a doctoral study programme on the basis of the result of the entrance examination and the recommendation of the admissions committee. The decision on admission to the doctoral studies includes the topic of the selected dissertation and the full name of the supervisor.
The admission procedure at the UCM Faculty of Arts is carried out within the intentions of the university guidelines UCM Study Regulations.
