Education in the study program respects the standards of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) for the education and training of future psychologists and is compatible with the education of psychologists in EU member countries. The goal of the education in the study program is to prepare a graduate who, at the time of completing the master's degree, has the knowledge and skills to enable the investigation and prognostic evaluation of the behavior of a person or a group of people using selected psychological methods, techniques and procedures, corresponding to the current knowledge of psychological sciences and the state of practice. He is ready to work in areas of psychological specialization (especially clinical and counseling psychology, pedagogical and school psychology, organizational and work psychology) and/or in the field of research. The graduate has specialized knowledge and skills in the fields of general, special and applied psychological disciplines, as well as knowledge and skills in the field of psychological diagnostics and methodology. He is able to critically evaluate current research, design, implement and present more demanding quantitative or qualitative research in all phases.
1. Knowledge:
A graduate of the 2nd degree in the field of Psychology studies the current possibilities of psychological specialization and practical application on the labor market. He has specific knowledge mainly in the field of applied psychological disciplines (especially learning theory, theory of cognitive structures, theory of personality, theory of work performance, theory of people management, theory of work analysis, theory of learning needs analysis, theory of counseling and psychotherapy), which primarily aim at understanding behavior and the experiences of individuals within groups and larger systems/society. Knows the principles of designing and implementing a more demanding quantitative or qualitative research project, including the possibilities of data analysis. Specifically, a graduate can e.g. define past and present trends, concepts and theories in psychology, characterize the latest knowledge in the field of psychology, explain the influence of emotions or psychological disorders by basic psychological processes, describe personality disorders, explain inter-individual differences in behavior, personality characteristics and social contexts, characterize specific situations that induce certain psychological states, classify scientific methods of psychological research, explain the positives, negatives and adequacy of the use of research techniques in relation to the given context, describe the principles of creating psychodiagnostic methodologies and tests, define methods of statistical data analysis, characterize software suitable for psychological research, describe principles and assumptions of scientific design and research in psychology, to reproduce legislative and ethical principles of psychological activity.
Skills:
A graduate of the field of Psychology (2nd degree) possesses skills in the application of specific knowledge of various psychological disciplines, especially designing methodologies, designing procedures for performance evaluation, designing training, designing a therapeutic plan or psychotherapy. Furthermore, he will acquire skills in the field of diagnostics within the framework of research (laboratory conditions, field research) and within the framework of applied disciplines according to the psychological specialization. The graduate is able to design and implement a more demanding research project (experiment), including multivariate data analysis or qualitative data analysis. The graduate also has the ability to write professional articles/excerpts/findings/reports, create concepts, carry out analyses, and the ability to present goals and results, as well as the ability to reflect on their professional activity and the professional activity of others. The graduate therefore knows specifically, e.g. apply psychological assessments, interpretations and interventions, carry out individual diagnostics, individual and group psychotherapy, apply the initial conduct of an interview with a client, create, apply and analyze diagnostic scales, create, implement, monitor and evaluate a research project, formulate conclusions and propose them for specific situations , search for and use psychological methods and procedures in practice, carry out pedagogical and consulting activities.
Competencies:
The graduate will acquire professional competences related to the psychological content of the professional process and activities in the context of clinical practice, counseling and psychotherapy practice, educational practice, the context of work and organization, specifically able to specify goals (analyze needs and determine goals), assess or diagnose (an individual , group, organization, situation), develop (service or product), implement and evaluate the intervention and communicate the results. In addition to the aforementioned knowledge and skills related to preparation for the profession of psychologist, the graduate also acquires several transferable competencies - he demonstrates independence in solving problems and projects from the field of study in a changing environment. The graduate demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an individual, member or team leader. He has innovative thinking and is ready to professionally present the results of his own analysis and study in front of a professional audience, even in a foreign language.
- Main learning outcomes: In order to achieve learning outcomes corresponding to the relevant level of the Qualification Framework in the European Higher Education Area, the content and objectives of the study program are in accordance with the standards of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) and are achieved through measurable learning outcomes in individual parts (modules, subjects) .
Graduates of studies in the study field of psychology have the opportunity to apply (in some cases only after obtaining the necessary certificate related to the specialized study or certified activity) in various positions, such as :
- assistant
- worker under professional supervision/supervision
- independent worker, especially in the field of: health and social care - counseling psychologist, clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, forensic psychologist, psychologist in the field of social counseling;
- education and training - educational psychologist, school psychologist, career counselor;
- organizations and work - work psychologist, specialist in human resources
- other areas such as police forces, military, transport, sports, communication, marketing, science and research.

When registering the application electronically:
- the applicant is obliged to save the application uploaded in AIS (electronic application) (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient,
- we recommend using the electronic student book. Applicants who will graduate in the academic year 2024, submit a list of grades for the 1st to 3rd year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 4th year (5-year study). The report card from the last year and the matriculation certificate must be delivered additionally by post to the study department.
- in case the applicant does not have the possibility to use the electronic student book, it is necessary to send certified copies of the documents by post to the study department,
in the attachment of the electronic application, the applicant uploads a CV and confirmation of payment of the fee for the admission procedure. - the applicant, who graduated before 2024, will deliver to the Study Department (in person or by post) certified copies of the report cards for the 1st to 4th year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 5th year (5-year study) together with the school leaving certificate.
When applying in writing:

The applicant is obliged to submit a decision on the recognition of a document on education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic no later than the day of registration.

For the study of all study programs - including the study of foreign languages - knowledge of the Slovak language is required. Foreign students who do not have a high school diploma in the Slovak language or a university diploma from a Slovak university must take a language exam.
This condition does not apply to students with Czech citizenship.
It is necessary to register for the language exam in the online form no later than August 20, 2024.
