1. Knowledge:
The graduate masters the basic content of the disciplines of his specialization, the principles of its structure, is familiar with the methodology of content production and its broader cultural and social contexts. In the language component, he will acquire systemic knowledge, primarily from the stylistic level of Slovak, theoretical knowledge about functional language styles, about the possibilities of using linguistic means and about the composition of language expression (subjects: stylistics of the Slovak language I, II.) A broader diachronic view of the development tendencies of the Slovak language and internal linguistic regularities they offer historical linguistic disciplines (development of the Slovak language and dialectology). The didactic component of the department is mainly filled in those subjects of the study program which are focused on learning methods and strategies, principles of organizing and planning the Slovak language and literature lesson (didactics of the Slovak language and style; didactics of literature). The literary component is dominated by the literature of the 20th century. The graduate has the ability to independently interpret a literary work, as well as the ability to encourage students to receive literature and discuss it. The history of Slovak literature starting with the literary-historical and ideological-aesthetic diversity of interwar literature (subject: Slovak literature of the 20th century I (interwar literature)) through literary life in the period after 1945 (subject: Slovak literature of the 20th century II (literature after 1945)) to the pluralistic character of the most current literary work at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries (subject: Contemporary Slovak literature (literature after 1989)) are a complementary addition to knowledge about Slovak literature acquired during the first degree of study.
2. Acquired skills:
The graduate will be able to apply acquired knowledge and practical skills from individual linguistic and literary disciplines in methodological procedures emphasizing the active role of the student in teaching, the importance of his internal assumptions and the importance of his interaction with the environment and society. He will acquire the skill to flexibly adapt his professional knowledge to the changing conditions of school practice, which he can use creatively in the performance of his profession or when continuing in a subsequent third-level university study.
3. Professional competences:
In addition to mastering teaching skills, the graduate is able to participate in the development of methodological materials. for teaching. He will gain knowledge about the development of pupils' receptive and productive skills, in the issue of alternative methods in teaching he will learn about learning methods and strategies, the principles of organizing and planning a lesson in Slovak language and literature.
4. Transferable competences:
The graduate will improve his/her communication skills in his/her mother tongue, both written and oral, and can communicate effectively at the level of a work team as well as at the level of student groups. He will improve his presentation and rhetorical skills (subject: rhetoric, language communication and culture). Through his own reading experience and a comparative approach to the literary text, he will acquire a confrontational and receptive attitude towards national literature and foreign literature. By knowing and interpreting artistic texts, a competent student will approach it as one of the important components of national literature and at the same time learn to identify and define values that he can practically use when forming his own value system and the value system of pupils in the practice of the educational process at schools. Graduates will acquire organizational skills, digital skills, improve their creativity and thus be able to establish themselves in artistic and creative industries.
General characteristics of the professional profile of a graduate in combined teaching study programs:
The goal of master's education in combined teaching study programs is to prepare the graduate in a high-quality manner for the performance of the profession of a pedagogical employee in the category of teacher according to Act no. 138/2019 Coll. on pedagogical employees and professional employees and on the amendment of certain laws, for lower secondary education (teacher of the second level of primary school) and for lower secondary vocational education, secondary vocational education, complete secondary general education, complete secondary vocational education and teacher for higher vocational education (secondary school teacher).
Profile of a master's degree graduate:
The graduate will have a developed complex of knowledge and skills, key abilities and skills, value attitudes and personal traits that will enable him/her to successfully perform the profession of teacher, to integrate into working and non-working social structures.

1. Knowledge:
The graduate will master knowledge about the phenomena of pedagogical reality, educational processes and their factors, determinants of education and training, as well as knowledge about ways of learning about pedagogical reality, about pedagogical and didactic approaches, concepts and knowledge about solving various pedagogical situations. The graduate will master the knowledge of educational inclusion, the development of pupils' personalities and the application of diagnostic, intervention and evaluation activities. The graduate will master the knowledge of the scientific disciplines represented by his approval teaching subjects.
2. Professional competences in the areas of:
- A student - a graduate of master's education will be able to adequately identify the developmental and individual characteristics of the student, the psychological and social factors of the student's learning, and the sociocultural context of the student's development.
- The educational process - the graduate will master the content and didactics of teaching approval subjects, which are a combination of his study program, will be able to adequately plan and project teaching, implement teaching, evaluate the course and results of teaching and student learning.
- Professional development - the graduate will adequately plan and implement his/her professional growth and self-development, will be able to identify with the professional role and the school.
3. Transferable competences:
The graduate will have a developed ability to handle stressful situations, the ability to work with information, the ability to take responsibility, the ability to identify and solve problems, the ability to work in a team and lead a team, the ability to think and act creatively and flexibly, communication skills, presentation skills, the ability to adapt with changed circumstances, the skill of written expression and the ability to work in an intercultural / international environment.

When registering the application electronically:
- the applicant is obliged to save the application uploaded in AIS (electronic application) (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient,
- we recommend using the electronic student book. Applicants who will graduate in the academic year 2024, submit a list of grades for the 1st to 3rd year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 4th year (5-year study). The report card from the last year and the matriculation certificate must be delivered additionally by post to the study department.
- in case the applicant does not have the possibility to use the electronic student book, it is necessary to send certified copies of the documents by post to the study department,
in the attachment of the electronic application, the applicant uploads a CV and confirmation of payment of the fee for the admission procedure. - the applicant, who graduated before 2024, will deliver to the Study Department (in person or by post) certified copies of the report cards for the 1st to 4th year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 5th year (5-year study) together with the school leaving certificate.

The applicant is obliged to submit a decision on the recognition of a document on education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic no later than the day of registration.

Information for international applicants to download
For the study of all study programs - including the study of foreign languages - knowledge of the Slovak language is required. Foreign students who do not have a high school diploma in the Slovak language or a university diploma from a Slovak university must take a language exam.
This condition does not apply to students with Czech citizenship.
It is necessary to register for the language exam in the online form no later than August 20, 2024.
