Chemistry (Bachelor's)
- Field of Study: Chemistry
- Form of study: FULL-TIME
- Degree of study: 1st, bachelor
- Duration of study: 3 years
- Teaching language: Slovak
Education goals and graduate profile:
At the time of graduation, students of the Chemistry study program have adequate theoretical knowledge of all basic chemical disciplines: inorganic, organic, physical, analytical, medical, nuclear chemistry and biochemistry. As part of the biomedical chemistry module, they will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge integrating knowledge from chemistry, biology, pharmacy and medicine, they will master laboratory technology and basic laboratory methodologies in the mentioned chemical specialties. They also know the chemical aspects of phenomena that are the subject of study in other natural, environmental, medical and technological sciences, they work skillfully with a computer using commercial software, and they know how to practically apply the acquired knowledge, most often as part of a research team, in solving basic and applied chemical or related tasks research. Students are able to quickly and efficiently adapt to the specific requirements of practice, organize their further education and personal growth.
Graduates of the study program have adequate theoretical and practical knowledge of general, inorganic, organic, physical, analytical, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry, but also of mathematics, physics, biology and computer technology. They are able to independently perform work of a technical nature in chemical, environmental, pharmaceutical and or medical facilities. Students can acquire, process and present scientific information. Graduates of the chemistry study program have the prerequisites to work in various chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, environmental research and operational facilities and perform more demanding work of a technical nature, or participate in solving scientific research tasks as a team member. They can also apply their knowledge of chemical informatics in the production sphere, but also in state and public administration, e.g. when monitoring the natural environment, processing and using databases, etc. or they can continue their university studies at the 2nd level in the field of chemistry, or in one of the related fields.
Graduates of the chemistry study program have the prerequisites:
- apply in various chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, environmental research and operational facilities and perform more demanding work of a technical nature, or participate in solving scientific research tasks as a team member,
- in the production sphere, but also in state and public administration, to use their knowledge of chemical informatics, e.g. when monitoring the natural environment, processing and using databases, etc.,
- to continue university studies at the 2nd level in the field of chemistry, or in one of the related fields.
Professions:
- Chemical laboratory technician
- Chemical production operator
- Process engineer of biochemical production
- Analytical chemist in development departments
- Validation specialist in quality control departments
- Pharmaceutical representative
- Researcher at universities
