The study program European Studies and Politics is aimed at providing a comprehensive framework of knowledge, skills and competences in the field of national and European politics in an adequate scope II. university degree. With its content focus and additional activities, the presented study program responds to the needs of modern practice, which increasingly requires comprehensive training of graduates in the field of European public policy making. The study program is therefore developed on the basis of communication with experts from practice as well as employers and supplemented with activities for the overall development and training of national and European leaders. For this reason, the real results of the educational process focus on the preparation of graduates with complex skills and competencies with a practical focus, who are ready for independent analytical work. A prerequisite for obtaining such transferable competences is the fact that students have a set of knowledge, skills and competences in the field of political science and European studies, i.e. a sufficient wealth of knowledge that is necessary for the analysis of political, social, economic and international aspects of various forms of governance and individual policies or political actors. Students in the study program of European studies and politics will acquire these skills and competences thanks to its interdisciplinary nature focused on a complex of knowledge from the areas of the functioning of the state and its parts, the European Union, international relations and security, which are supplemented with knowledge associated with ongoing political and social processes at individual levels of governance.
The graduate of the master's degree of the study program European studies and politics thus acquires a wide range of theoretical knowledge in the process of education, which enables him/her to orientate himself/herself in the processes of national and transnational politics. Can apply individual international political theories to analyze selected processes taking place within the state or outside it. He knows how to connect the acquired knowledge with practice, thanks to the opportunity to gain practical experience for his future career already during his studies. Theoretical knowledge and acquired skills can be directly applied by the student during individual teaching activities, as well as applied to several possibilities of professional practice, thereby verifying and deepening them into the form of practical competences.
A graduate of the 2nd degree of university studies (master's degree) of the study program European Studies and Politics deepens his basic knowledge and knowledge from the previous bachelor's study from the scientific base of political sciences, to the extent and level adequate to the degree of study according to the Qualification Framework in the European Higher Education Area education. This scope provides the graduate with readiness for analytical tasks in the agenda of state and international organizations. The graduate has an expanded and deepened professional base necessary for solving independent tasks and, thanks to practically oriented teaching, can contribute and participate in the creation of various sectoral policies of a European nature.
As part of the study program also includes participation in several professional student events, discussions and workshops, the graduate is able to communicate in domestic and international forums. The graduate will deepen the acquired professional language and concepts related to the creation and implementation of European policy, how to use them in the creation of new policies in order to demonstrate an understanding of the context and consequences of the problem and alternative decisions when proposing a solution. Furthermore, the graduate possesses in-depth knowledge and competences important for comparing the functioning of policies in an international framework, especially in the European Union, and thus can propose procedures and tools for solving individual practical problems.
At the same time, the graduate is able to organize work in working groups, cooperate in the preparation of public policy at the European, national and local level, analyze needs, identify and name problems, propose, create, implement, monitor and evaluate policies, conduct empirical research and interpret his/her results and apply research recommendations in practice. The graduate is prepared to understand the interdisciplinary contexts of the functioning of modern political systems and regimes. And since the European dimension of policy-making is based on synergy and convergence, graduates are ready to look for solutions for modern Europe, which is served by several practically focused activities implemented directly in the teaching process. The range of knowledge will enable the graduate to enter practical life or to continue in the third degree of study.
A graduate of the European Studies and Policies study program will find employment in state administration bodies, local governments, public sector entities, scientific research and teaching institutions, transnational institutions, analytical organizations, but also in the private sector, respectively. in the field of volunteering, in various positions (see below). This program joins efforts to create experts for European politics who will be focused on achieving qualitative results based on more in-depth quantitative studies. As the presented SP deals with solving the problems of human society at the present time, the content of individual subjects therefore reflects current events. For this reason, during their studies, students are motivated and challenged through several activities to solve questions in crisis situations of society, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. for example, how government policies are aimed at achieving economic stability and growth, managing environmental quality, or ongoing achieving economic stability and growth, managing environmental quality, or ongoing social and political change.
In general, the goal of the master's degree study of a given SP is to prepare graduates to solve these problems systematically and at the same time establish broader theoretical connections. Graduates and their abilities to compare and work with individual European policies and political discourses are deepened and have the competencies to collaborate on background and database studies that will determine social priorities. Graduates thus have the prerequisites to become impartial professionals in the field of policy analysis, European studies and processes, who could find employment in analytical units or similar departments in ministries or European institutions.
