A graduate of the 2nd degree course in physiotherapy is a qualified university health worker with a broad professional profile. He/she is ready to independently perform activities requiring professional erudition, independence at work, in decision-making, bears personal responsibility in physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation, in prevention, in primary, secondary, tertiary and subsequent health care.
Graduates can independently carry out methodical and analytical work, participate in the creation of programs, and the ability of active, conceptual, creative activity is expected, e.g. creating application programs, analyzing teaching methods, designing and participating in research, management work in the state administration and the private sector. Determines, plans and performs highly specialized techniques, methodologies, physiotherapy procedures, balneological procedures, hydrotherapy, ergotherapy and electrotherapy in all clinical fields such as neurology, orthopedics, surgery, traumatology, gynecology, internal medicine and pediatrics.
Graduates master the basics of occupational therapy, robotic rehabilitation, virtual rehabilitation, telerehabilitation, the basics of aspects of sports for the physically handicapped, special kinesiology and pathokinesiology. They master the basic methodological procedures in management in physiotherapy, in the organization of healthcare, insurance and in the social field.
A characteristic feature of the graduate is a deep, moral-ethical and humane approach to people, especially the sick and physically handicapped. They know how to express empathy, comfort and emotional support, take into account the patient's personality, his way of perceiving health, illness, physical handicap, his experience and behavior under the influence of changes in his health, win him over and motivate him for cooperation. He has the prerequisites for independent scientific-research activity and methodical-organizational work in the field, creatively participates in the development of the field and pedagogical-scientific activity.
In the field of education, he is ready to participate in the education and training of physiotherapists to perform the health profession. He can carry out teaching activities at the relevant levels of education in the field. The graduate has practical skills and methodological knowledge in the key field of physiotherapy at the synthesis level, which serve as a basis for practice and research. He/she is able and authorized to independently perform the range of activities in the profession, which are given by the selected completed study program. The graduate has the prerequisites for further university studies of the third degree, specialization and continuous education. Preparation for the performance of the profession is carried out according to the relevant European and national legal standards.
Theoretical knowledge:
Graduate
- knows the morphology and physiology of the individual systems of the human body with an emphasis on the movement and support apparatus and the understanding of the human organism as a dynamic and adaptable whole
- has knowledge of pathomorphological and pathophysiological manifestations of disease processes and conditions in the human organism
- has basic knowledge of health statistics and research in physiotherapy
- master the theoretical foundations and methods of effective managerial communication in professional activity
- has basic knowledge of facts, concepts, relationships, contexts and principles of psychosomatics, psychotherapy and psychology
- master the basic principles of medical ethics
- has theoretical knowledge of special methods of kinesiology and pathokinesiology in neurology, orthopedics, surgery, traumatology, gynecology, pediatrics and internal medicine
- master a wide system of knowledge, data and methods from functional diagnostics and the locomotion system, which are a prerequisite for prevention, correct diagnosis, effective therapy and evaluation in the process of medical rehabilitation
- master theoretical knowledge in the social field, social services and counseling, health policy and legislation
- has theoretical knowledge, instructions and procedures of ergotherapy in medical rehabilitation
- has theoretical knowledge of robotic rehabilitation, virtual rehabilitation, telerehabilitation, the basics of aspects of sports for the physically handicapped
- has the theoretical foundations of algesiology, the management and analysis of painful sensations and the possibility of physiotherapeutic intervention in painful conditions of the locomotor system
- has theoretical knowledge in organization and management in physiotherapy
Practical abilities and skills:
Graduate
- comprehensively controls the description, analysis, evaluation of kinesiological conclusions and is able to use them in kinesiotherapy
- controls the system of individual methods and techniques of functional diagnostics and the locomotion system as well as internal systems with the subsequent ability to evaluate them and create conclusions for the creation of kinesiological and physiotherapeutic procedures and programs
- controls the system of special methods, techniques and procedures used in kinesiotherapy in individual clinical departments according to the state and nature of the threat, disease, physical handicap in individual age periods
- has the ability to assess the significance of his procedure in therapy, evaluation, correction and updating of the kinesiological and physiotherapy program
- master the principles of application of virtual and robotic rehabilitation, telerehabilitation
- controls the indications, contraindications and applications of physiotherapeutic, balneological and electrotherapeutic procedures
- controls the indications, contraindications and applications of individual types and techniques of physiotherapy
- master the basics of functional diagnostics, construction and implementation of a rehabilitation program from the point of view of occupational therapy
- master the basics of management and analysis of painful sensations and the possibilities of physiotherapeutic intervention in painful conditions of the locomotor system
- controls the application of methods, forms and means of education and training in health education, positively influencing the health awareness of clients and social groups, methods of acquiring them for active participation in the protection and strengthening of one's own health
- controls procedures in the provision of health care with regard to patient safety
- mastered managerial and professional effective communication and behavior based on ethical principles, is capable of empathy and assertive behavior in relation to clients
- master the basics of working with information technologies in professional activities
- controls the organization in healthcare, insurance and management in physiotherapy
- a strong emphasis is placed on practical teaching, clinical practice and continuous summer practice
Additional knowledge, abilities and skills:
Graduate
- has basic knowledge of strategy, system, social security and consultancy, health insurance and legislative field of health care
- understands the basic attributes of health, its preservation, consolidation of renewal and the factors that influence them
- master the basics of the methodology of professional scientific research and information technology
- master the basics of professional management
- controls the organization of his work, work and cooperation in the medical team, communication and transfer of professional information in the team
- masters managerial communication in physiotherapy
- master the basics of counseling in the social field.
Graduates will perform highly professional activities within the scope of preventive, diagnostic and curative care in inpatient and outpatient facilities, spa treatment facilities, specialist treatment and rehabilitation institutes and other facilities that provide preventive and curative health care, or health protection and support. It can also be used in sports and recreational facilities.
Graduates can also find employment in international organizations such as:
- World Physiotherapy (WP),
- European Region of World Physiotherapy (ERWP),
- international organizations in professional societies,
- patient organizations and professional organizations
- and in European Union organizations.
The primary employment of graduates should be within a healthcare facility (hospital), but also in undergraduate and postgraduate educational institutions. Graduates carry out their highly professional activities within the framework of preventive, diagnostic, physiotherapeutic and curative care in medical and spa facilities, in social care institutions, in rehabilitation institutions, in sanatoriums, in home nursing care agencies, in workplaces focusing on movement therapy, physical therapy and complex physiotherapy, as well as modern recreational and preventive wellness / fitness facilities, which are increasingly sought after nowadays.
In addition, they can also find their application in educational facilities for health-disadvantaged children and youth, in retraining facilities for health-disadvantaged citizens. They can also work in social organizations whose purpose is the resocialization of health-impaired citizens.
An important area of application for graduates of the field of physiotherapy are entities of the third sector, such as civic associations and foundations. In addition, graduates are able to keep in touch with modern developments and lines in their discipline and continue their own professional advancement.
