Knowledge and technology transfer to practice
The university recognizes the importance of creating suitable conditions for transferring knowledge acquired by its students, given the growing focus on translating commercially viable academic research results into economic and social practice.
UCM strives to initiate and support connections and collaborations with other universities, research institutions, and potential industry partners. One form of support includes establishing an office dedicated to coordinating knowledge and technology transfer. This office’s mission is to identify research with commercial potential, assist in intellectual property protection, and support the development of strategies for its utilization or commercialization
The activities of the knowledge and technology transfer office include:
- Identifying, mediating, and providing information on relevant training opportunities for UCM staff in intellectual property protection and technology transfer;
- Monitoring UCM’s organizational units to identify potential intellectual property (e.g., copyrights, artistic performances, audio and audiovisual recordings, broadcasts, databases) and industrial property (e.g., patents, utility models, designs, plant varieties, trademarks, geographic indications) as well as outcomes that may lead to improvements, know-how, logos, new prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods, and more;
- Facilitating access to relevant resources and external support projects and programs for technology transfer, ensuring the formal aspects of their use;
- Providing UCM staff and students with advisory and consulting services in intellectual property protection and knowledge transfer;
- Supporting the formal aspects of the technology transfer process and maintaining the related records;
- Providing information on relevant calls for proposals in the field of technology transfer;
