Institutional accreditation

5/2024

The Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (SAAVŠ) has granted UCM the rights to create, modify and approve study programmes in all fields of study and at all levels of education in which UCM conducts study programmes.

A condition for obtaining university autonomy in the field of curriculum management is the creation and implementation of an internal university quality assurance system that is in compliance with the SAAVŠ Standards for Internal Systems. The fact that these standards are based on European standards of higher education and that SAAVŠ is a member of the European Association of National Accreditation Agencies, the accreditation of UCM is a confirmation that UCM belongs to the standard European universities. The internal quality system, as its own "assessment and accreditation agency" (VSK UCM: www.vsk.ucm.sk), has been developed and implemented by UCM in its academic life over the last three years. Dozens of members of the UCM academic community from all levels and all areas, including students, our alumni, colleagues from other universities, both foreign and domestic, representatives of employers and social practice, have been involved in the creation of relevant policies, structures and the implementation of processes for the evaluation of the quality of education, creative activity and all other related activities that take place at UCM.

On 16 May 2024, the Executive Board of the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (SAAVŠ), at its 73rd meeting, decided by Resolution No. 73/6 that:
- the internal quality system of UCM and its implementation is in accordance with the Standards (SAAVŠ) for Internal System (which are derived from and are part of the European
Standards for Higher Education),
- UCM is entitled to establish, implement and modify study programmes in all fields and degrees of study in which UCM carries out study
programmes

UCM has obtained "institutional accreditation".

The SAAVS decision also allows UCM to continue to conduct all fields of habilitation and inauguration proceedings that are accredited at UCM and through which UCM awards the title of associate professor and proposes to the President the appointment of successful inaugurates as professors.
Among other things, it is also a confirmation of the achievement of a top international level of creative activity of a number of teachers working in the fields of study to which these fields of habilitation and inauguration proceedings are assigned.
