We visited the Royal University of Bhutan
Rector prof. Katarína Slobodová Nováková together with the Vice-Rector doc. Čajková presented the results of the joint project, which ends this year. In addition, they prepared new possibilities not only for project but also for mobility cooperation between students and doctoral students.
In terms of collaboration with the university, activities with the College of Natural Resources, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College and Norbu Rigter College, which are faculty components of the university, have proved to be the most effective. These are not only Erasmus+ KA 171 activities, but also cooperative projects such as Capacity Building in Higher Education. "We also discussed the preparation of joint summer schools and interdisciplinary research projects for students and PhD students. These would be mainly in the fields of political science, social work, natural sciences with a focus on biotechnology, chemistry and biology, as well as climate change and topics such as sustainability, tourism development, development studies or inclusive education," says Andrea Čajková, Vice-Rector for International Relations.
However, other opportunities for joint research projects are also opening up in areas where UCM is already carrying out research with European Union funds, such as the use of solar energy, water purification and microplastics in water, coping with climate change by addressing public policies or educational policies in the field of soil cleanliness.
The visit took place during the first week of April. Bhutan is one of the smallest countries at the foot of the Himalayas. It is a kingdom with a population of 800,000, the king is also the president/chancellor of the Royal University. The country is developing dynamically especially in the field of sustainable development, tourism and tourism. The University welcomes opportunities for international cooperation and joint research themes, and has a number of important partnerships in Europe and the USA.
