Land - The Old Times

The workpackage focuses on examining the historical aspects of land ownership, use, and protection in Slovakia during the 19th and 20th centuries. Through fieldwork and archival research, document analysis, and case studies, the project explores changes in land ownership and their impacts on the economy, society, and demographics. Special attention is given to family structure, the number of children, and demographic processes such as emigration and the shift to smaller families.

The study includes an assessment of significant land reforms and changes, such as the urban freeing from serfdom and land reforms associated with resettlement and the colonization of various regions of Slovakia. Identifying patterns of behavior and perceptions of land provides valuable insights that contribute to a better understanding of the topic and raise awareness of historical developments.
